John carpenter
Is the John Carpenter in this film the guy who directed Halloween?
Jon Boushell
No! They are not the same person! The John Carpenter in the movie is the guy who (most believe) murdered Bob Crane!!
shareI was never fan of the Hogan's Heros so I have no idea who John Carpenter was.
Was he part of the show as a technical person? Was he famous at the time?
No, at the time he and Crane met, Carpenter was a regional service manager for Sony & AKAI corporations, and was up to date with the latest technology at that time. He was accustomed to being around stars (he taught Elvis Presley, Alfred Hitchcock, Red Skelton, just to name a few, how to use a VCR). Being in the position he was in (regional manager), this gave him lots of flexibility and time to travel with Crane around the country when Crane was involved in dinner theater. Surprisingly, in the early 60s he was involved in the roller-derby sport, touring with skating teams from LA and NY, and gained a reputation as one of the "bad guys."
shareThanks a lot for the information.
shareI thought it was the same guy. Thanks for clearing that up.

Carpenter died some years after!
The halloween guy is still alive!
So it is NOT him!
Based on the film, John Carpenter was color-blind, there's a scene in the film where he gets fired on the job, due to a technical screw-up when he's doing a demonstration on a colour VCR for some executives. Was this true, I haven't yet read the book. But does anyone know if this is fact or fiction, was he really color blind?.
shareJohn Henry Carpenter was a friend and accused murderer of actor Bob Crane. He passed away in 1998.
John Howard Carpenter is an American film director. I think he is best known for "Halloween", "Escape from New York" and "Starman".
