On the surface he looked calm and ready to drop bombs, but he kept on forgetting what he wrote down.

If you notice the movie starts out with him choking and ends with him up on the same stage dominating. The entire movie was essentially B-Rabbit's journey trying to find himself, form his own identity, and engage in introspective soul searching. To go from choking at the beginning to raping everyone at the end he had to do a bit of growing up and mentally maturing. Choking wasn't the problem, it was the symptom. He choked because of all the other problems in his life that he had to sort out before he could get back up on stage, this time around having genuine confidence and being unafraid to show his true self. The movie is one big transition from B-Rabbit trying to fit into the crowd and cover up his problems, to being comfortable in his own skin and realizing and accepting that he does have issues
