Why did they switch the races?

Does anyone know why the filmmakers switched the races of Kelly Robinson and Alexander Scott? It seems like an oddly arbitrary change to me.

I wondered the same. It seems to me the names fit the actors better this way. Of course, it’s just a guess...

It's more realistic with the athlete being black.

I'd say it was because Murphy is more bankable than Wison.
