In tearms of Aikido, this movie was frustrating as hell

It made me long for the days of broken arms and legs and joints being bent in directions that nature has not intended for a few million years. Don't get me wrong, it was a decent action flick worthy of any person that's a fan of action movies, but for crying out loud, let's see him REALLY BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF SOME PEOPLE, like in his earlier movies.

I really enjoyed this movie but you do make a good point.

Where has all the limb-snappin' gone?

reply

I noticed as well. I'm guessing the whole movie was chopped to bits to keep it within PG-13, for you'll notice that though many die, there's scarce blood to be seen. The whole thing could be shown on basic TV unedited save for a few s-words, which could have been cut. Heck, even the rap songs on the soundtrack are edited.

You lot should count yourselves lucky. Here in the UK it has an 18 certificate, meaning that nobody below the age of 18 is allowed to rent or buy it, let alone see it.

I'm astounded, truly and completely AMAZED, that anyone could think little kids couldn't handle it. Yeah, LITTLE KIDS. I was watching far, far more violent stuff than this when I was 6 or 7, and I turned out just fi...er, perhaps that's a bit inaccurate, but STILL. 18 and up? Ridiculous. I don't think I've ever seen an action movie this non-violent aside from those made for (USA) TV, and some of those were more bloody than this. In fact, I'm thinking this was meant for network TV. Not even basic cable, I mean you could get it with antennae.

What I'm trying to say is, Steve. Wtf, man? Out for Justice is your peak.

reply

I agree mates, this movie is worth watching, only just. Steve has one too many of them BigMac's, cause he looks like Dom Deluise (the guy from Candid Camera). And I dont say that there is anything wrong with fat people (hell, perhaps I should loose some weight too, but that's out of the question here :D ), it's just that performing aikido with some 40lbs too many just doesn't work. Maybe that's why there were virtually no hand-to-hand (or man-to-man without a gun, however you want to call it) fights in this flick. And quite frankly, Seagal isn't a great actor, no, the reason why his movies still sell, is that people love to see him snap some bones and kick some ass.

reply

Oh yes, this movie is only JUST worth watching, if only for the loveliness that is Nia Peeples. She rocks this movie, and it's really too bad she's wasted in it. That said, surely she's in something better. ;)

"Yes they were. Well in."

It hasn' got an 18 certificate, its just a 15. Which is just about right.

When I rented it from Blockbuster, it had the 18 certificate on it (I've noticed one or two other occasions in that particular rental chain where the category had been changed with a sticker to something higher than what the BBFC actually awarded it for some unknown reason), hence why I previously said it was an 18. It later became known to me that the BBFC actually awarded it a 15.

Really, I could deal with his weight, if he was still messing people up in grotesque ways. I mean, remember "Marked for Death"? Some of that stuff made me hurt just watching it!
