The GTO
Does anybody know anything about the electric door opener on the outside of the car? It was somewhere near the rear window. Is that stock or just added for the movie? Thanks.

shareMy best freind growing up had a 1967 GTO, the outside electrid door opener was not a stock feature on cars in 1967, it was custom added for the movie.
shareThe two buttons seen briefly in the movie are located on the inside of the sail panel ("C-pillar") of the GTO behind the rear window. Each is a rubber-covered toggle switch that is depressed to actuate the door... one button for each of the two doors. The wiring then goes to a circuit board mounted in the trunk, which signals a vacuum-powered actuator mounted on the inside of each door to open. The system was installed and built by Eddie Paul (responsible for paint and bodywork on the cars built for the film) and are obviously a custom "gag" for the film. Got any other questions about the car? Ask away!
Let's start a campaign to bring back the GTO again for xXx-3!!!!!!
Agent xXx MUST drive a GTO!!!!
Output describes it perfectly, but it isnt anything new. Its an old hotrodder/lowrider trick. The idea was to clean up the look of the car by eliminating the door handles to provide a smooth unbroken surface. The button could be located anywhere. A popular spot was under the door and it was actuated by using your toe. Back in the day you would use starter solenoids directly wired to the battery, but now there are companies that make whatever you need.
