Xander Cage vs Jack Ryan

Who would be the best agent?

reply

That's a stupid question.

reply

Why? I always heard that there are no stupid questions.

Anyway. Both men where marketed as "the new James Bond." Ryan was "more realistic and up-to-date", while Cage was "more appealing to the youth and up-to-date."

So, again, who is the best of these two?

OK - Jack Ryan was a marine and is no longer a marine because he has a bad back ... iirc from the books he fell or something (correct me if I'm wrong) maybe in combat and survived, but his back was messed up.

So Ryan can take care of himself and he's pretty smart, but not trained like say Bourne or Bond. Xander, also can take care of himself and appears to have no serious injuries ... and no actual training in anything, except for whatever he trained himself on - like cycles and jumping cars off bridges .. and parachuting.

So in a motorcycle, sports car/parachute jump/survival contents- xXx wins... in a military type situation - Jack Ryan gives xXx a chance to live. xXx realizes Jack aint half bad and decides not to make Jack's back worse? Jack doesnt like shooting people - unless they really deserve it.

Or is the contest in a WWE ring? Maybe it depends on the script.

When and where was Jack Ryan marketed as "the new James Bond"??? He wasn't even an agent, he was an analyst forced to go into the field.

Here, for example:

With author Tom Clancy sniping from the sidelines, Harrison Ford takes over the role the studio hopes will become the James Bond of the '90s

That's something they tell stupid people to make them feel comfortable to freely ask questions.

Congratulations! It took you only 16 months to give such a smart reply!

Maybe you can improve yourself and wise-crack within only a year the next time!

Good luck!

reply

Wasn't meant to be a wise-crack. If you wish not to have replies; delete your posts.

I don't mind replies, as long as they have some relevance, or are funny. Since your comment wasn't meant to be funny, it should have some relevance on the Xander Cage vs Jack Ryan-issue.

And since it hasn't: shut up yourself, or wait just another year before you post something again.

"Xander Cage vs John Clark" would be the more appropriate Ryanverse match-up, IMO.

reply

Jack Ryan? Wasn't he just a CIA analyst who somehow manages to get himself thrown into some of the most outlandish situations that only a James Bond/ Jack Bauer/ Jason Bourne-type of character could handle?

It's one of the reasons I always thought those Jack Ryans films were parodies. And very bad ones at that.

I did, however, like Hunt for Red October.
