Anybody ever watched the unrated director's cut?

I bought the DVD of this over the summer. I sold the original PG-13 version and bought the director's cut. I wonder this: Do you think that some of the scenes were re-shot or cut out to keep at PG-13? I can understand the extension of the bedroom scene with that girl doing a striptease and some of the moves seemed a little risque. Also, the big one of the bunch was when Yorgi got a phone call and there was that shot of three naked women on the bed, with breasts exposed and everything, whereas in the theatrical version, there was only one woman and she was covered. I kind of wondered what the deal was when they were shooting this. They also have that extra bit at the end with Xander and Yelena talking about holding breath underwater.

Do you think they only shot those scenes a certain way and then tried to tone it down to keep it at PG-13 level? There were no F-bombs in either version, by the way.

A little of both. A Director's Cut usually shows alternate shots regardless of rating change. The term 'Unrated' is really just a marketing term by the industry as people assume it'll be full of nudity and swears but 95% of the time that's not the case. Sometimes movies are shot to be PG-13 but are just a little too risque so are trimmed down just a little bit. Director's Cuts usually put those risque shots back in and other scenes that further flesh out the story or characters..

Well, I have since re-bought the PG-13 version (I still have the director's cut, by the way) and listened to the commentary on the deleted scenes, including the one I mentioned about the three naked women, who were blurred out in the PG-13 version extras. Well, I can see the reason why some parts were cut after listening to the commentary.

Actually, the one you saw on Netflix IS the unrated director's cut but it was put as PG-13 for some reason. The theatrical cut that is on DVD has the woman covered.

Just saw the unrated cut on Netflix, I prefer that version, myself I don't see why that version wasn't the theatrical version. Everything was tame in terms of content, for me anyway.

Per you guys, I just logged into Netflix and XXX is rated UR. I never noticed this "rating" on a movie on Netflix before.

I've only seen the Director's Cut (just now, actually) after seeing the Movie-Censorship comparisons and noticing a difference between Canadian ratings (18A on the DC as opposed to the 14A on the PG-13 DVD), and I watched it kind of expecting some blood squibs or additional violence, at least. It's not every day I see two versions of the same movie out there where both the Canadian AND U.S. ratings differ from each other.
Turns out the 18A was just for the added nude shot of those three hookers(?), which was a bit disappointing.
Wasn't too bad, though. I might buy the DVD. Can't really decide.

i'm watching it now on netflix (canadian) where it's rated 14A... i noticed it was a director's cut (or unrated, or whatever) because of the scene with xander on the plane talking to some kid, about a "game" he's playing, anarchy 99... i remember seeing that before, but as a deleted scene, unfinished to boot because the shots where the camera shows the laptop screen, it was just a blue screen saying "image graphic here" or something to that effect...
i haven't reached the part with yorgi and the girl or girls, but i figured this one is the DC...

I didn't, got the theatrical version on dvd, not gonna upgrade cause this movie just isn't good enough to validate it AND reading a comparison between the 2 it seems like the only difference is that the deleted scenes on the theatrical dvd has been added in to the Unrated version.

I did like the scene with the kid on the plane but other than that not much of value and I can always just watch that scene on the bonusmaterial if wanting to.

there was that shot of three naked women on the bed, with breasts exposed and everything, whereas in the theatrical version, there was only one woman and she was covered. I kind of wondered what the deal was when they were shooting this

That scene is in the theatrical version of the dvd in the bonusmaterial as well BUT the nipples are blurred out to save the rating, I listened to the commentary of that scene and the director said:

"We knew we were gonna try to make it PG13 but that chances were that it was gonna end up being r-rated just because he ratingsboard are so picky so we decided to shoot this scene with 3 naked women in it just because that is what people would expect from a r rated movie"

And he also made some pretty creepy comment about the room being cold which was a plus for him because their nipples got hard and that was a good look for him and talked about how the actor was so talented because those naked women didn't take him out from his acting

You gave yourself a name. I gave mine up.
