at the end of the movie
gibbons says you passed the test...the gibbons test
then xander was like "you got to be kidding me"

did that mean that gibbons set all of that up
or was it just a joke?

yes i always thought that
but i saw yelenas face when he said it one time and it made me think it was a set up.

I think it just means that he now has Gibbon's approval and he passed the "test" of succeeding in his mission.

Theres no way that this was just some training mission. Lots of people died.
