There appears to be lots of stories based on mutant humans around areas like West Virginia. Is there any basis of truth?

I never been to West Virginia but my college professor told me stories like this are probably very true. Another reason why its probably true is the state generally votes republican. And even though that traitor Joe Manchin claims hes a democrat, he is really a spy and a true republican at heart

This movie and Hills Have Eyes were influenced by Sawney Bean, who headed a cannibalistic family in 16th Century Scotland. No they were not mutants.

I don't remember at all the name Sawney Bean in this movie. I think you may be thinking of something else

The name Sawney Bean was not in the movie you idiot. It was the influence that inspired the writers to write this story.
