Books vs movies

I'm reading the books for the first time, but I really like the movies. So far, the first book is very similar, but it's also very short compared to the other books. Can I assume there is a lot that didn't make it to the screen from the later books?

Yeah there are a lot of things that get left out in the later movies, Goblet Of Fire, Order Of The Phoenix and Half Blood Prince are the biggest offenders in my opinion.

I suspected as much. Those are pretty thick volumes compared to the first. I've got all of the hardcovers on their way.

Enjoy them, I really love the books. The seperation is so different that I just have to think of them as two seperate canons though.

I'm actually hoping for that. Seen the movies a lot, so wanting a new experience.

There is a lot from the first book that didn't make it into the movie.

I'm only halfway through it, but so far it's very close. Just a few details are different. Hopefully it's better than the movie in the second half. The first film is my least favorite.
