has this happened with anyone else or am I just crazy?
In the second disc of the Chamber of Secrets DVD, there's an interactive tour feature that allows you to roam around Diagon Alley and its bookstore for a quick visit. In it, you use the remote control arrows to navigate your way around the designated spots the content creators allow you to see.
In case you forgot, the bookstore we see in the film has two floors. In the first shot of Draco we see, he's actually watching Harry from above as he's taking pictures with Lockhart. Now in the interactive tour on the DVD, one is allowed to roam around the first floor. Even if you point the camera directly towards the stairs, there's no way to go up the second floor. That is... except this one time.
I'm not sure how trustworthy my memory is, considering long it's been since I've witnessed this (must be at least 14, 15 years ago) but for whatever reason, there was this one time where I was actually able to access the second floor. For some reason, this time when I aimed the camera towards the stairs, there was an arrow that appeared that pointed straight up. I clicked up on the remote and surprise! I was on the second floor!
I've never been able to do this, but I do have witnesses of the account (sorta). I asked my sister whether did she see me do this and while she said she did not see me physically accomplishing the feat, she did remember seeing my reaction of shock and excitement after. My memory of it is still pretty distinct to this day. I remember seeing a bunch of scratches and ticks on the screen as a result of the disc being dirt to the point where it would barely play, stopping and pausing every second as the camera went up the stairs. Beyond that, there wasn't anything particularly special about it, it was just the second floor of a bookstore. Still, this curiosity lingers with me to this very day.
If there's anyone out there who's experienced this as well, please let me know. I'd love to hear how you triggered this mysterious phenomena into appearing. Or if you found another anomalies within any of the Harry Potter DVDs. My guess is that this is a secret Easter Egg on the disc that I stumbled upon accidentally without knowing what I did that caused it. It's a shame I haven't been able to do it again since (if it had occurred).
Any thoughts?
