People have reached a new level of ignorant.!

I heard about this being completely horrible, but when i watched it it was practically Ringu or The Ring, but instead of a videotape it was a website. Its basis was almost an exact clone. It wasnt great or good forthat matter, but no where near as bad as i expected. It is actually undderatted. They took a good consept and messedit up. The characters werent very drawn out and were very "one dimensional" Some things seemed like they were done on improv. Like they all died because of something on the computer, and then they were killed by there worst fear, and then each of them was killed withen 48 hours and all the hints of this were added after they found out. WEll anyway, it WAS fairly entertaining, and if u liked the Ring u most likely should like this. But the fact that so many sad it was AWEFUL is actually pretty sad.

I second Chris. There are a lot of reasons to not like this movie, but the Ring also had very disturbing content. The Sea running red with blood, a box of severed fingers crawling around, dead horses.... I doubt anyone who claims to like the ring secretly wants thier own box of severed fingers.

If you liked the Exorcist, does that mean you enjoy masturbating with a crucifix? Turning your head completely around on your shoulders? Spitting pea soup at people?

Disturbing content is meant, by definition, to disturb. We don't have horror movie villains who steal scrabble tiles because that is not scary.

What The Doctor did to those woman was gruesome and horrible. We're meant to hate it, not like it. The movie does not attempt to honor what he did, it attempts to show revenge against an inhuman, unfeeling monster.

“Time to feel Doctor…”

Saying someone only likes this movie because they "Need tips on abducting woman" is as unfair as saying you only dislike it because you enjoyed what the doctor was doing and were upset that he didn't get away with it.

If you thought what the doctor was doing was sick and disgusting then congratulate the filmmakers for getting the point across.

Hate this movie because the characters are one dimensional and unconvincing, not because you liked the good guys and hated (or were appalled by) the bad guys.

Hate this movie because you dislike horror movies, not because the horror succeeds in horrifying you.

Don't set up neat little categories that people have to go in,

No ands, ifs, or buts about it.

Unless you'd like to call attention to the fact you're fixating on the villain and his actions... almost like you were more interested in them then the main plot...?

Don't worry, the original Ring novel dealt with the following:
- Rape;
- Testicular Feminization Syndrome (basically hermaphroditism).

And the Japanese 1995 movie Ring: Kanzenban added the following to it:
- Randomly thrown-in sex;
- Incest.
NOTE: Not showing genitals, though.

So as we see here, all the sexuality in FearDotCom is probably at the same level as that in Ring: Kanzenban. :p

So many people said it was aweful because it was. The Ring/ Ringu were much more tasteful. Why on earth would anyone like all of that nasty torture and nudity. It was just sick. Very sick!

reply

You're not supposed to like the torture scenes, that's the point. You like "Silence of the Lambs". Is it therefore accurate for me to assume that you enjoy the abduction, starvation, murder and skinning of women?

I agree this movie is far from great but it is nontheless enjoyable IMO. It rips off of the Ring quite bit but then the Ring didnt impress me much either. In fact I would say this movie is on par with the Ring if not better, if only because it manages to be a bit more sinister and intense.

Hey stevepkp4, whats sad is when hollywood can't come up with a new idea. Every damn movie nowadays is a F'en remake. Thats pretty sad. Nothing is ever as good as the original. But stupid people usually don't know they are watching a remake so they eat it alive like the sheep they are!

reply

In the past, a reasonable level of coherency and plot was required to call something a movie. I'm glad to see that it's not something enterely forgotten.

As I said in another post about this. Seems more Ringu is a ripoff of VideoDrome. Just because it coppies the "die in this amount of time", doesn't mean it's a ripoff. Yes it used that and has a curse on it. You have a list of cursed stuff.

Video Tapes/Film: Videodrome (1983)
Video Games: Brainscan (1994), Arcade (1993)
Graveyard: Pet Sematary (1989)
Music: The Gate (1987), Gate 2: The Trespassers (1990), Trick or Treat (1986)
The Amityville Cursed Objects. Now you wanna talk bad. This is bad. The worst.
