The problem with Goldmember's character

The character is simply played accoustic and visually. Myer's doesn't grant us a insight in the mentality of a Dutch person.

He is simply a character with a stupid accident and a strange look. Nothing original, nothing clever, no references.

Accepting that I can still enjoy the movie. Maybe I just don't get the character, never will. I think the character is simply completely underdone.

So fat bastard grants insight into the mentality of morbidly obese people?

Goldmember is a parody of the german james bond villian goldfinger so theres your reference and if you dont think the skin box is clever then your existence must be an unhappy one

I agree, all of the other characters Mike Myers played in these movies were at least given some kind of depth and back-story, but Goldmember was a one-note joke.

reply

It was a waste of time him actually being in the film as he doesn't really do or add anything other than a silly Dutch accent ...
And if, you know, your history...it's enough to make your heart go whoooooahh

Hey everybody, I'm from Holland! Isn't that VIERD?!?!

brilliant

I liked Goldmember more than Fat Bastard.

Well, it's as superficial as it gets.

Austin Powers, Dr. Evil - heck, even Frau and Scott have personalities, histories, characters and well-built and established styles.

Goldmember is just a gross, superficial, visual-aural joke.
