I hate this movie so much.

First of all, her step-father is the worlds's worst comedant. Her cadet captain also sucks hardcore. She can't keep her wits about her while getting a little bit muddy or a bit of paint in her hair; she shouldn't be in charge of any military unit, let alone in any type of military. There is so much more I hate about this movie, but it is like goatse: disgusting and terrible yet I cannot look away.

I agree with the both of you, this movie is not only a mockery of the United States military, but it's continued airing on tv seems to lower moral for the military making them believe that it is silly and moronic.

Okay. All of you that don't like this movie have major issues! It's a really good movie! I don't know why ne one would dislike it. Only complete boneheads would. so that makes all of u guys bone heads! this is an awesome movie, as much as i dislike hillary. it has some comedy, common problems, and ppl learning to get along with each other. if ne one else dislike the movie, then i dislike u!

In response to the replys that contrast my comments, I would like to start off by saying this, If I was looking at movies that were of a military nature and I saw Hilary Duff as one of the names on the title I would instantly become sick to my stomach. I believe that if people were looking for a movie on the military they would expect to see titles like "Band of Brothers" or "Saving Private Ryan" not "Cadet Kelly". My sister and I who are both in the military, were watching this mockery of a good movie and we laughed for about five minutes just at the beginning, not because it's such a great movie, but because how opposite it is to what the military is like. And if any of you think that the Military is like THAT you need to join up and see for your selves.

Actually, this movie is not about "how the military is really like". This movie does show a Military Academy, not the real military. It's a whole bunch of JROTC cadets. Did you know that "Rahway High School" is a real school. And their drill team is one of the most competitive in the nation when it comes to exhibition drill. It really sucked that they weren't allowed to use real rifles. Those white rifles weigh like, 4 lbs. Rahway uses almost 10lbs. M-14 rifles in REAL competitions. This movie, like many, many other movies, does make many mistakes concerning military norms and what not. Some commands were wrong and if you notice in the Rahway scene there are some continuity problems (the cadets were at port and then suddenly at right-shoulder). That african american guy with the rifle from Rahway was Blake Jackson. He is an awesome driller and is commemorated at one of my favorite sites, The Drill Jungle. If any of you are interested in what you see in this movie (drill) you should check out this site, it is AWESOME : www.thedrilljungle.com

Hasta luego!

Well I think that most of the posters on this forum are missing the real point to the movie. Look past who plays the characters. Look past the fact that it takes place in a military school. The point to the movie is to introduce kids to the idea of Divorce and a blended family. Its not about the military. Its about how Cadette Kelly deals with life after her parents get divorced and her mom gets re-married. The entire plot of the story just happens to take place at a military school because the character of her step-father is a military school commendant. All of you in the military who are upset as to how the military is portrayed please look past that. It is NOT about military. Its about a girl dealing with a new situation. Its helping my step-daughter get used to the idea that Divorce and Step-parents are ok so I give it 10 stars! It is another great movie put out by Disney to teach something to kids.
