Could have been Daria.

I was only able to catch a few episodes on The-N while checking out Degrassi, and was bummed when it was replaced with the 'fish out of water' series where a whiny kid from america has to go live with his aunt in the outback. (side note: I would have killed to go to the other side of the world and not live where I was raised, but that was because it was pretty misreable where I was.)

But she pretty much was like Daria in the sense that she did not want to conform to what everyone else was doing and she had parents who where pretty out there.

I liked that it was sort like "clarissa explains it all," in that she would rant at the camera every so often.
