why was Chris Tucker paid more than Chan for this?

Isnt Chan the much bigger international draw? His name has more clout than Tucker's whos only notable films are the RH series and the Friday movies.

Plus he had a much more physically demanding role.

where did you hear that he was paid more?

I remember reading it in some articles during the time of release.

Also, IIRC, during the time of release, the trade off for Chan's lower salary was he had the right to distribute the film internationally.

here's a small blurb on it: http://movies.about.com/od/moviesinproduction/a/rushhour3112105.htm

According to Variety, Tucker agreed to $20 million against 20% of the gross. Chan's earning slightly less upfront but will own the distribution rights in Hong Kong and China.

Chan is no longer the star of the movie. Technically, he is but Chris Tucker takes lead role plus in the credits his name comes first. in the other two, Chan's name came first.
