Why was Jackie Chan speaking Japanese?
In the sewer scene where Lee (Jackie Chan) was speaking to Kenji, they were both speaking Japanese, not Chinese.
Weird?

Jackie is actually fluent in Japanese. As for Inspector Lee I guess being as close as brothers with Kenji in the orphanage, it's not too far of a stretch that Kenji would've taught his "brother" conversational Japanese in their time together growing up.
shareGood ear by the way. Not many westerners would have noticed(or cared).
Cheers!

neway, Rush Hour should've stopped at Rush Hour 2 if it was to become a trilogy
WHY turn into trilogies!!!
the ONLY BRILLIANT TRILOGY where ALL 3 movies deserve the top 250 imdb is INDIANA JONES, Indiana Jones DOES not make it into a Quadrilogy cos Quads arent relevant,
they needed much better quality fighting scenes, much more of the high flying chan n tux stuff like in Rush Hour 1 and 2
it was merely French puns and crappy knife throwing, there were no HOT broad villains like in Rush Hour 2, there was one bald woman and some weird dude who cant act xD
the villains need to look cool, and they need to be much more psychotic :)
Chinese Triads should be kwl and smooth, the sewer scene was absolutely weird, why would gangs go down the bog to do business?!?!
Rush Hour 2 had the sewer thing and that joke was over, instant classic Rush Hour 1 and 2, but Rush hour 3 was just terrible
i hear its amazing, why? how is ANYTHING realistic in the movie?
Its good to see tux with his muzzle back, but he should try and make some high flying moves too...
Budget was wasted, shouldve given it to ppl who NEEDED the money rather than ruin a perfectly good 2 film set...

I noticed. They sound so different. I wasn't like they were alternating between Cantonese and Mandarin (which we hear very often here in the states depending on where you live). In spite of what the rest of the world believes, some of us do care.
shareI noticed it too! for Kenji that is, I thought that Inspector Lee was replying in Chinese.
I came from the end of a bag, but no bag went over me.
I thought that Kenji looked Japanese, but I couldn't tell that they were speaking the language. (And I'm half Asian!)
I'm not as think as you stoned I am!
I am curious why George & his wife/woman were speaking to each other in English with French accents. Why weren't they speaking to each other in French???

Kenji is a japanese name, so Kenji looking japanese is not weird.
