Chris Tucker is freakin hysterical. Believe me the movie does not have the greatest story line but who cares!!! Lately this movie has been on HBO almost every day. I watch it every time it is on. Some great lines....

Just because he CAN be funny does not redeem a movie. Case and point: Steve Carrell in Evan Almighty
In addition, parts of this movie were downright offensive such as at the beginning when Tucker is talking to his boss about arresting Iranians for being terrorists (but they were in fact scientists)...this is downright racist, what because he's black it is okay when he says things like that? That's bullsh*t!
Also when we was holding the gun to the French taxi driver to sing the American anthem...that was another horrible scene. The driver ends up liking Americans, which is downright ridiculous when one just held a gun to his head.
All these two scenes do, besides ruin the movie...is try to affirm that a) it is okay for Americans, particularly black-Americans, to be racist towards Persians and Arabs and b) that Americans see the rest of the world as THEIR background, in which they can do whatever they like.
We can talk about script, director, etc all we like...but these reasons, for me, stand out as why this movie DID in fact suck so hard!

I don't think the bit about the Iranians is saying it's okay. The point of it is that it's showing just how STUPID Detective Carter is. It's a ridiculous thing for someone to do and that's why the bring it up; to point out how ridiculous and stupid Carter is. It's not condoning it.

You should probably avoid watching any episode of All in the Family, if you can't get the obvious humor in that scenario. Just a friendly warning.
