The Good and the Bad of this film...*SPOILERS MAYBE*

Alright, THE BAD:

*Where is the characterization? Where is the plot?

*What is the point of Roman Polanski's police officer? Why did he rough them up as if he had the authority to do so, and if he was going to watch over them in the entire film? If they (Lee and Carter) were able to knock him out at the end of the film, why didn't they at the beginning?

*What was the point of the cab driver? Okay, the guy got to kill someone, but what kind of a character is that? (It's not like he had a lot of information from Lee and Carter to go kill some random person; the cab driver didn't know about the entire plot).

*Suddenly Lee has a brother? There wasn't much given to this plot point.

*The knife killer portrayed by Youki Koudoh (sp?) was killed way to easily, and seemed like a retread of Ziyi Zhang's character from the 2nd film. Too, she also didn't have much depth.

*Why didn't they get the original actress to portray Soo Young?

*The entire film seems to be just thin skits for Tucker and Chan to do their thing. Not much else.

THE GOOD:
*Tucker and Chan were hilarious.

And Good: Noemie Lenoir, a feast (with her hair). Wish she was in it even more.

"I can understand it, but I don't like it none!"--Cheyenne.

Lenoir was okay, but a bit on the skinny side for me. (I did miss Roselyn Sanchez though...)

On the comically knife-throwing Kudoh, I also felt she could have gone out with more of a bang. However, I've come to realize she was just intended as a light-hearted reference to Zhang Ziyi in RH2.

Besides Kudoh, I felt the action was rather stale. The sword fight was very tame and there was not much more. The previous installments had much more action.

reply

It was "rather stale", but they saved Soo Yung, didn't they? That's good.

"Did you make coffee...? Make it!"--Cheyenne.

What I don't understand is how you'd think that this film had little in the way of characterization and plot that appeals to you, but Rush Hour 1 & 2 did.

That's not a criticism of any of the films. I just don't see how you'd perceive this one as being that different.
