I know this has been asked before, but, why weren't they in here? With Elizabeth Pena's character, I thought that something would wind up happening between her and Carter and she wasn't here. Anyone know why or what happened? And Roselyn, I thought that all that was going on between her and Lee and she wasn't here. Anyone know why or what happened?

this movie went through several re-writes and such... at first the original bad guy was supposed to be Jean Claude Van Dam and then it was rumored to be Vinnie Jones...
Roselyn Sanchez was also supposed to return in this one but ultimately was left out... idk if it was her decision or the director... but that's why Tucker and Chan have the dialogue to fill in the story blanks...
Oh, man. I wish that Elizabeth & Roselyn were in here, though, that brought back Soo Yung, Han, Carter's boss, but, not them. I liked them a lot, but, it would've been cooler had they've been brought back too. I think that Jean Claude would've been a better and even more badass villain, Jackie Chan vs Jean Claude Van Damme, why the hell didn't they go through with that?!

Actually Roselyn Sanchez did return for Rush Hour 3.

Here is the deleted scene if anyone wants to see it. I thought in the movie they said Carter shot her and she had a droopy eye and she ended up at El Pollo Loco. It wouldn't have made sense for them to keep this scene.
It would've been nice to have them both. It's not like they didn't have the budget to do it. Pena not as a love interest, but a scene or two. Perhaps hinting at a jealousy between her and Genevieve. Roslyn as Lee's love interest. Perhaps a major catfight with the dragon lady. This film could've been longer. IMO

Pena's character was "previously" involved with Carter before the events of the first film. Notice how she was "annoyed" with him throughout the whole movie. Pena was just a simple LAPD cop so she had nothing to do in the sequel which took place in HK. Having her do a cameo in the second was would've been useless and had no purpose. By 2007, Pena's character must have been transferred to another precint or perhaps taken a promotion. She's no longer involved with Carter. As for Roselyn, her career took off in the years following "RH 2" and wasn't interested in reprising her role. She was just referenced with a photo of her.
