The should make a prequel. Cast the same actors as Sub-Zero and Scorpion and add more ninjas, sorcerers, monsters, aliens, robots and gods.
Mortal Kombat has lores and characters rivalling Star Wars. Just stay away from the tired old martial arts tournament trope. This is not mid-90s anymore.

The movie doesn't care about the videogame's story anyway. So why bother?
shareIt's a movie. So of course there's going to be differences between that and a fighting game that's story is limited to the out come of who the player chooses to play as to finish the story with.
However Every Mortal Kombat movie has done a good enough job imo at bringing each of these characters from the game to the big screen and making us feel like we're seeing that same character from the game. What exactly do they need to do to convince you that "They care about the video game?" The moves are there. Scorpion has the get over here, sub zero freezes people, Liu Kang shoots fire, Goro is a freakin beast just like in the games, and Shang Tsung is the f'n boss. As is shao kahn and the others. You either didn't actually watch the movies or you're just nitpicking. Either way thats your business.

pretty much sounds like nitpicking to me. Like I said before. It's a movie. So they added in a new character. So what? The other characters are still there getting plenty of focus so all this just makes you come off like a big baby. Have fun with that.
shareThey made him the main damned character! There are a shit ton of previously established MK characters to choose from that fans already love and they choose to go with some rando they created. That was just dumb. And yeah, he and his family pulled a ton of focus.
Almost everyone's favorite parts of the movie were Scorpion and Sub Zero(big shocker there), yet instead of exploring their characters and backstory, we spent time with Cole. Whoever made that choice should be fired
TO BE FAIR...IF COLE HAD ANY CHARISMA OR THEY HAD MANAGED TO GIVE THE CHARACTER ANYTHING INTERESTING TO DO...HE COULD HAVE WORKED....BUT THEY DIDN'T...SO HE PULLS FOCUS IN THE WORST WAY.
