Well, I'll confess that I believe in him
Ok, I'm going to go out on the line here and admit that I totally do believe in John Edward. I really do.
However, I actually am a skeptic. In no way do I believe that every medium is the real deal and in fact, John Edward is the only one whom I believe to be genuine. Even that lady from Long Island Medium seems a bit far fetched to me. Don't get me wrong, her personality is fun and I'd love to have a coffee with her but when it comes to the psychic aspect alone, I find that even she can be vague or too broad in her readings.
John Edward is different. Yes, of course I know a lot of you will argue he's a "douche" (seriously though, please bury that joke along with 'I'm Rick James, Bitch' and 'I wanna be on you') but let me first explain why I actually believe him. He honestly does seem to have a real air of authenticity to him. Maybe it's his personality or his eloquence when he speaks but he seems to bring a real clarity to his readings. And to be honest, I actually find him to be very specific in his findings...quite frankly, sometimes I myself have been blown away and gone "holy CRAP how did he know that?!"
Sure, of course there's some times where he might be vague but it's usually when (according to him) he's just trying to figure out if he has the right person or not. But then he'll hit them with something very specific. Some of you have put forward the theory that he plants people in the line before the show starts to overhear people reminiscing about their loved ones who have passed on, in order to gain information. Sure, that could happen. But most times when you're talking about a dead person, you're not talking about it in VERY specific terms like John does.
For instance, I remember an episode where John picked up on a family's teenage son coming through. John was able to describe the layout of their house to them, specifically their basement and that they had a New York Mets 1986 champions pennant in their laundry room. He also mentioned that the father had been down there very recently and was sniffing the old clothes of his deceased son because he missed him so much. The father was absolutely shocked that he knew this but it wasn't until AFTER the reading, when producers were interviewing the family, that the father admitted he did that (I guess he was embarrassed to admit it in front of the studio audience). And sure enough, they showed the family's house and there's the basement EXACTLY like John had described it, Mets pennant and all. Couldn't believe it. I was shocked.
Now, could the family have been talking about this prior to show and one of the plants overheard it? Um...sure. I guess. But the odds that that happened are slim. Sure, maybe you'd talk about your dead son (like "I really hope _______ comes through") but why would they be randomly talking about that Mets pennant lol? Half the family forgot it was even down there. And the father was CLEARLY shocked that John Edward knew he had been sniffing his son's clothes (he said he hadn't told anyone he did that, clearly embarrassed). Sometimes, you can just tell by the reactions on people's faces that they're being genuine...that they too are taken aback by John Edward's accuracy.
Anyways, is that scientific empirical proof? Well, sort of actually. But I know there'll always be skeptics. The thing is though, who are we to say "Uh hell no, he doesn't talk to the dead". Technically, how the hell do we KNOW that?! We don't! At all! I've always thought that the worst kind of people are the ones who believe they know every single aspect of humanity and have answers to every single question. Look it, only 300 years ago did people genuinely believe there was an edge to the earth and you could fall off of it. Because of what we know now, we think that's hilarious and stupid. Fast forward to 300 years from now with the stuff people will know then; they'll absolutely look back at us and roar laughing at the stuff we believe in now. Society is ALWAYS advancing...always. We never have all the answers...we hardly know anything, really.
So that's why I think it's ridiculous to dismiss John Edward and psychics entirely. Is it healthy to be skeptic? YES! Of course! But to outright go "No way in HELL is this guy real!"...well that's a tad ridiculous.
He's been around for so long doing what he does, don't you think by now, especially given his celebrity and status in the world of psychics, that he would have been totally exposed as a fraud by now? Surely someone would have been able to dig up some hardcore incriminating evidence that this guy is a complete fraud. No, not just some scientists throwing theories that he's a fraud...I mean some actual evidence that this guy has been screwing with people his entire career.
There isn't any.By the same token, no one who knows him or did know him or his former producers or employees have ever stepped up and said he's a fraud. No one. I just can't help but feel that if he really was a complete joke, that someone by now would have absolutely exposed him.
Just my opinion. I really do believe in him.
