Just saw it

I've had this movie for almost two months with Blockbuster.com and finally got around to watching it last night after a busy summer.

A few months ago I was searching for new movies to add to my mail list and somehow I stumbled across Angel Blade. I knew it had to be a B/Direct to DVD type movie but the plot sounded interesting enough for a cheap thrill.

And making it even better to me I saw Amanda Righetti was in it on the cast list. I didn't come here to IMDB to get any backround on it before viewing as I thought it was an obsecure movie no one was going to know anything about. The way they had the cast listed, Amanda is way down on the list and I assumed by that, she was going to have a minor role probably getting killed off quickly.

Not true! She is female lead. To my surprise she is nude I'd say 50% of her time in the movie. I know this was a few years before her limited role on The OC but I was shocked how far she went with the nudity and sex. It kind of reminded me of Blown Away back in the 90's with Cory Haim, Corey Feldman, and Nicole Eggart. I have to wonder now if this film is currently costing Amanda from getting a lot of work these days too or if the Fox shows and pilots she's done are just bad luck for her.

I went into the film not expecting much and I found it better than most unknown direct to DVD movies. The ending sucked. It was really a tacted on "draw your own conclusion" type ending of who may have been killed in the last scene.

In another post here someone mentioned David Heavener being an "egomaniac". It really came off that way in the DVD extras. He is the only bio option listed. Then there is a behind the scenes option of the film. I never usually look at that stuff but this one got to me thinking they may have interviewed Amanda and her take on all the sex. Right off the bat it's a shot of David himself getting make up with him doing the voice over commentary. He says "Hello I'm David Heavener the writer, director, producer, and STAR of Angel Blade...Right here I'm telling the make up lady the type of make up I want to have". At that point I couldn't take anymore of him patting himself on the back and I shut it off.
