Question on Christmas Special and timeline (spoilers, obviously!)

How long were Dawn and Lee in Florida? Dawn alludes to overstaying their visa, which was six months (?), but the conversations she has at the Christmas party make me wonder if it was over a year, at least, maybe even two years.

I always wondered what happened to Rachel after Tim broke up with her - I don't think she was in any further episodes. She wasn't in the Christmas special and it makes sense that she would have moved on in that time and left Slough, even if most - if not all - of the other office staff members were there.

It's not a big deal, just kind of more poignant, if Dawn and Lee were gone two years, give or take....poignant that Tim hadn't met anyone else and moved on, that many of the staff members who wanted something else in life (Keith, Tim) were still there.

If one reads the IMDB Christmas special synopsis, they say "It's been three years since the BBC first visited Wernam-Hogg." During this time the show has been on for 2 years and they've become somewhat famous - in a post-modern kind of way.

So, I'd say Dawn and Lee were away for about a year. If it was 2 years it would be really awful, if Brent was still visiting the office during his spare time two years after he left.

Actually, at the Christmas party, Tim asked Dawn "do you have that report? I've been waiting two years for it."
