Effective but should be avoided

Unless you are a sociopath or have no woman in your life you care about... you should avoid this movie.

It's a good movie, but you probably won't get over that scene and I don't want to be this disturbed by a film.

I've seen this movie 3 times. I would call it the most disturbing movie I've ever seen simply because of its realism and darkness to the entire film. I've also seen films like Salo: 120 Days of Sodom and A Serbian Film, but I felt they seemed visually unrealistic and at times sometimes even laughable. They both were based upon the way those kind of societies were/likely still are, but they just didn't convey reality to me. Irreversible did. Even though I would call it the most disturbing film I've ever seen, it's also a great film in terms of its cinematography, acting, etc. I personally love when directors make films with controversial content and don't hold back, but only if they use that to convey a moral or overall idea to the viewer. And I feel that this film does. Enter the Void, by the same director, is my current favourite film. I think there is a lot to be respected and admired in his work. The film may leave some emotionally/mentally scarred, others it might not affect so much. As I said, I've been able to watch it 3 times. I wouldn't call myself a total sociopath.
Maybe a little.
