Oscar Worthy

Now im not saying it would of been a slam dunk but i feel if this movie was released in theaters, both COULD of been nominated for a best actress..i am born and raised in NJ ..and they hit it right on the head.that was as close as u could get to Jersey girls without them really being from NJ..and holy cow the car,the hair, the HUGE purses with the giant cans of hairspray..LOL i loved it!!!

p.s...i like Juliette Lewis better than Uma...is that wierd??? lol

I would have given Uma Thurman the Oscar... If she wouldn't have been up against Nicole Kidman in The Hours.

I absolutely love this movie. Uma and Juliette are two of my favorite actresses. I randomly started watching it a year or 2 ago on HBO and now everytime it is on, I watch it. It feels very real to me. Uma is amazing in it. That night when she went to the bar and saw Rick and was so upset then she came home and went to her mom and cried. I honestly felt it, she was very compelling. On a lighter note, the 80's style, hairspray, big hair, ripped shirts, loooooove it!

i just joined, and i was just gonna ask anyone over there if it was really like that you know with the big can of hairspray and looking for a man to feel normal...i loved the movie.it just makes me want to dress up and spray my hair real big and just hang out in a bar and feel like i belong there, like the bathroom would be personal to me a place to spray my hair some more and talk with my girlfriends and not some icky bathroom that has a different life in the daytime.i also want to go eat pancakes and half coffee at some place just like where the mom works at.you know i wish i had a time machine or just hop into the movie and observe the place and goings on.im not wierd but just saying its the kinda movie that takes you away when you want to get away from reality.uma`s character is so pathetic in a beautiful way.desperate and needy.its hard to believe that shes chopping peoples heads off in kill bill.she`s a wonderful actress.loved juliette lewis also."amber autumn"! love their accents.im from canada, so its an accent to me!

uma's performance really was oscar calibre. her range was equal of that to anna magnani in 'the rose tattoo' or charlize theron in 'monster'. the kind of great acting where they really ARE the roles that they play & its so REAL in every frame.

gosh, i will never forget this quirky, painful yet touching movie. uma is a revelation!

I was in my mid-20s in the late 80s when this takes place, and even in small town Indiana where I am from it was pretty much the same way. We all had big hair and makeup, and if you weren't married yet, you sometimes spent your social life a lot like these girls did.

Another single friend and I used to spend a lot of nights cruising around town, sometimes drinking and going into bars, although we didn't really pick up guys to take home like Uma did in the movie. But I can remember some Sundays that were just like that scene where Uma wakes Juliette up and they go for breakfast.

I can't say I exactly look back on those days with fondness, but I like this movie because it really nails the whole feeling of it.
