Trivia from this film:
The scene in Rick (Justin Chambers)'s house - where Debby (Uma Thurman) offers to make breakfast had to be shot that way because the house actually had no kitchen. It had been gutted for renovation prior to being selected as a location for the film. The filmmakers contemplated building a fake kitchen, but the homeowner refused.

Okay, how can a house not have a kitchen? Isn't that a standard, mandatory room when planning and building a house? How can the actual house in this film not have a kitchen? And why would the homeowner refuse to have a fake kitchen built? That whole thing just doesn't make sense to me.

Is it okay if I do it for mom and not you? 'Cause I really like mom.

Didn't you even read what you quoted from the trivia?

The house did have a kitchen, but it was "gutted for renovation just before being selected as a location for the film". That means after the owners of the house tore out the old kitchen and before they could put in a new kitchen this movie was made in this house.
