did they even kill him?

Eventually, in the manga, he was done in by the combination of Inuyasha's Meidou Zangetsuha, Sesshoumaru's Bakusaiga, and Kagome managing to put a purifying arrow straight through the Shikon Jewel.

Feh. Would of been cooler if the animator suddenly died of a heart attack and Naraku just vanished.
