New Anime in October?

The Shonen Sunday #31 reveals that a big news about InuYasha is announced in #34 on July 22.
Generally speaking, this description means the 2nd anime series starts in October.

I’m a good friend of Higurashi, the webmaster of inu-yasha.org (IIFJ), and I am utterly shocked by this news coming from her. Not so much by the news, but how it was delivered.

Higurashi wouldn’t dare make such a confidently worded announcement about a new Inuyasha anime unless she was close to 100% sure that it was a reality. I’ve known her for at least 5 years and I trust her conjecture on this matter. If she’s wrong, I won’t hold it against her. If not a new anime, the only other thing it could would be regarding the release date of the Black Tessaiga OVA.

I myself have long stood by the notion that the Inuyasha franchise (not counting manga releases in the US) would only be relevant for one year after the manga finished in Japan. Additionally, I have held that there existed a critical now-or-never window of opportunity between the Fall ‘08 and Fall ‘09 seasons inclusively, for a new anime or continuation to be announced.

After 5 long years, is this the news we’ve all been anticipating?

Edit: To the best of my knowledge, Sunrise has not scheduled any series for this Fall. A new Inuyasha would be the only thing they’d be working on other than the Gundam Unicorn movie.

Edit 2: It is quite possible that the news may leak on Saturday the 18th when the Shonen Sunday issue layout is leaked.

This year's 34th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine will announce next Wednesday that an Inuyasha Kanketsu-hen (Inuyasha Final Chapter) television adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's manga has been green-lit. The anime will broadcast on Japan's YTV this fall and cover the story in volumes 36 to 56 of the manga — the final 21 compiled book volumes. The original staff and cast will reunite for the new anime adaptation.

thank God it's back after 5 years of silence! Inuyasha tv series will return for a new season and to finish it off, finally and I wonder if it'll be follow on the rest of the entire chapters of the manga version and there's so many stories on the anime series that aren't done.

Yeah!!!! Finally, I love all the repeats, but i've been waiting for the new one to come out in America!! I want to see how it finish!!! Come on with it!!!

Apparently the new season will be 26 episodes only.
Debuts in October.

and there will be another new season next year? If it is only 26 episodes, then it looks like a cliffhanger.

yes there will most likely be a season next year as well, as said ther cover volumes 36 to 56, there are ALOT of stories between those volumes an I doubt they can fill it with 26 episodes. As for cliffhanger, who knows thats what makes it interesting.

I just got way too excited over this. lol! Oh my God I'm dying to see when Sesshomaru actually shows some emotion over Rin dying animated.

for Animax Asia subscribers in Asia, the latest Inuyasha season will be shown in October and it'll be the same broadcast date in Japan w/c is similar to the other 2 anime series this year: Tears to Tiara and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. And that will be exciting!

I thought that Noah wrote the 10 commandments while Moses built the ark.

Finally after all those episodes and movies they will finish what they started and let us see the ending of this great saga!
