I'm up to episode 54 of InuYasha and it's starting to get redundant.

I enjoyed it for a while, but now it seems as if the recycle button has been pressed.

Please don't call me a troll, I intend to watch this series to the end, but 1/3 through, it's losing its magic.

It seems as if every episode lately is this:

InYuasha loves Kikyo.
Kagome loves InYuasha.
Kagome gets mad, runs home.
InYuasha is headstrong, won't apologize.
Demons come.
InYuasha can't defeat them.
Deus ex Machina saves the day! InYuasha learns he has the Wind Scar! Now he has The Backlash Wave! Wonderful that new powers randomly keep revealing themselves!
Now InYuasha is hurt.
Kagome cares for him.
More demons!
More deus ex machina!
InYuasha loves Kikyo.
Kagome loves InYuasha.
Kagome gets mad, runs home.
InYuasha is headstrong, won't apologize.
Demons come.

...it just keeps going on and on like this. Why is this anime so wildly popular? The banter between Kagome and InYuasha was funny the first dozen times, but for me, the novelty has worn off. This show keeps stretching the plot out.

I feel with maybe 40 episodes this whole plot could have been told. Save 100 random, similar demons - just tell this love triangle between InYuasha, Kikyo, and Kagome and get it over with. Why drag it out over 167 episodes by a constant recycle of the same demon attacks, dating jokes, and Naraku plots?

Again, not a troll. I just feel this show is going on and on when it could have ended a long time ago.

Without attacking me, anyone want to rebuttal or agree?

To be honest, you could stop watching there and I wouldn't blame you.

You're right, it does get repetitive and the only reason to watch the last few seasons is for completion sake. I managed to watch the first 100 episodes before realizing the magic was gone. Personally, I think people kept watching b/c they honestly did think it was going somewhere.

But as we all know from the ending Naraku wasn't destroyed and basically everything was unresolved.

I know you posted this 6 and a half years ago, so i'm not sure what new information you're aware of since then, but after the main Inuyasha series was complete they made "Inuyasha: The Final Act", which resolved the story. I guess the reason was that they had to wait for the manga to finish before resolving the anime. Anyway, I highly recommend checking out The Final Act if you haven't yet.

As to the original poster's complaints, personally those things didn't bother me much. Yeah the story took a long time to make up its mind regarding the love triangle and whatnot, and it was pretty slow-paced, but it was still a highly entertaining adventure story.
