Great Premise but not much thought added...SPOILERS
Just saw Fear X yesterday and I don't think I've ever seen a film whereas I've been drawn in so much yet left so disappointed at the end.
There's notes on the board here about Harry's Schizophrenia (?) and such and such but the films conclusion fails blatantly in a way that cannot be put down to the argument of ' he wanted to leave it open-ended'.
I really wanted to like this film as it's delicate pace had me hooked from the beginning but then the hotel scenes came.
A few Questions.
1. How come the police at the end ( when Harry's in hospital) claim that they searched the hotel but found no body etc, HARRY WAS SHOT??? Did they presume that he just shot himself? Didn't the receptionist have a record of who was in room 503?
2. The hotel scenes with "we offer all sorts of entertainment here" and the girl coming to Harry's room, did they mean anything or were they just they're to falsely suggest an entirely different lynch-like layer to the plot?
3. The cop breaks down in tears saying he didn't mean to kill Harry's wife it was an accident but if he had been staying across the road from Harry and had an affair of some sort with his wife wouldnt he have recognised her in the parking lot and perhaps NOT have shot her?
4. The sheriff ( I think) that met and saw Harry in the diner when he first arrived in town new the wife of Peter and warned him of Harry's interest so he was in 'cahoots' with the corrupt police as well, it seems farfetched that so many of the police force would be in on this.
5. If this is all Harry's imagination why was such a great deal of time spent on showing the relationship between Peter and his wife, from when Harry arrived in Montana they had more screen time than him so why show all of this just to put it down to the reason that she was killed was 'cause she was in the way rather than link up all the clues that the viewers have been seeing ( ie the photo's, his wifes apparent-but not explained past .)
Overall I can't believe that for such a good idea ( not mention ace music, lighting , cast )for a feature film is treated so badly .
