I'm a HUGE fan of David Lynch and the director of this film unfortunately,
- wasted Turturro's (and others') talent
- wasted the audience's emotional energy
- wasted everyone's time
- and lastly and most unfortunately, wasted a great deal of money...
It's reported that his film company went bankrupt after the making and release of this film. Sad, because this film had some promise and it went NOWHERE.
And I believe it is shameful to compare to Lynch just because this guy uses a few hard-to-understand color shots that do not fit the scene transitions.
Even Alfred Hitchcock, which by far has been one of the most innovative, successful, remarkable, and talented Directors of all time said to give the audience some sort of closure (I think he used the word "end") or that the audience would become antagonized.
"If it's a good movie, the sound could go off and the audience would still have a perfectly clear idea of what was going on.”
