Heather Donahue is a mistake - bad casting. She is almost as bad as Jaden Smith in The Day The Earth Stood Still. And almost as bad as most of the casting in Stephen King's Langoliers.
I think all important the casting in "TAKEN" was dead on. Mary Crawford was driven & stubborn. Just like Heather Donahue's "Blair Witch Project" character. In fact, she mentions the similarity on the extra features disc of "TAKEN" It may sound strange, but I think using "A listers" in lead roles is often a mistake. Sometimes it can be hard to forget that it's Tom Cruise or whoever, on the screen & makes the story harder to believe. I think one of the things that made "TAKEN" so great was that most of the cast wasn't very well known. When I first saw it, I was familiar with Catherine Dent, Heather Donahue, Michael Moriarty, & Julie Benz. I recognized Ryan Hurst, but couldn't place where until the next time I saw "Remember The Titans" Other than that, the "TAKEN" cast was unknown to me
I like to see the cast members in other things too. Especially when two or more are in something. Like When Catherine Dent, Heather Donahue, Anton Yelchin, or Adam Kaufman were on "Without A Trace" Emily Bergl(Lisa) & Desmond Harrington(Jesse) were on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" once and Emily Bergl & Timothy Webber(Dewey Clayton) also co-starred on the ABC series "Men In Trees" I discovered that show while channel surfing by first seeing her & then him a few seconds later & decided I should check it out
"Men In Trees" has been cancelled. There may be reruns on somewhere though. It would be a good fit for the "Oxygen" & "Lifetime" networks because it was the tv equivalent of a chick flick. I only watched it because it had Emily Bergl & Timothy Webber. Another show Emily Bergl was in occasionally was "Southland" TNT has started showing the repeats, but I'm not sure if there will be new episodes for TNT or not. I hope so. It was a good show
Ryan Hurst is currently in a show called Sons of Anarchy. It's a show that centers on a biker gang and it's actually really good. Season 3 starts showing in September, I believe.
