Wow, just wow..

I just literally blasted through this miniseries and can't believe I never heard of it before. I came across it on Amazon and purchased it after reading some reviews. I have been down from a surgery so I watched this over a two day period, I was glued to it. Such an EPIC event, I can't believe I don't remember this from 2002 as I love SciFi and still remember watching and being hyped for Smallville back in 2001.

This miniseries was amazing, such a great idea to span generations on a topic that captured our grandparents imagination back in 1947 and continues to capture our imaginations(Roswell). The first three episodes were my favorite, but I love all of them.

I have always been fond of miniseries such as The Stand, IT and the such because they let us feel like we know the characters better than a single film because we spend so much more time watching these characters. Taken took all of it a step further and spanned Generations which was spectacular to watch, the actor that portrayed original character Col. Owens was magnificent, Wasn't as much a fan of Heather Donahues character though..

I really wish they would make more series like this, with this much heart.

Now this joins my list of favorite series in no particular order:

Game of Thrones
Carnivale
Breaking Bad
Jericho
Deadwood
The Sopranos
Smallville
V(original and remake)
Supernatural
The Stand
IT
Terminator:TSCC
Supernatural
Taken

I agree totally! I first saw it in April of 2004 when the SciFi channel ran the whole thing in a single weekend. I own the 6 disc dvd box set, soundtrack cd, score cd, & poster. I've seen it 22 times so far & love it just as much as I did the first time. I have a fan club for it on Facebook if you're interested called "Taken by TAKEN" Julie Ann Emery(Amelia Keys), Ryan Hurst(Tom Clarke: Adult), Camille Sullivan(Nina Toth), Mike Soltis(Lieutenant Pierce), & Heather Donahue(Mary Crawford: Adult) are all members

Agree.
Much better than average for a TV mini-series. The surprising thing is that it was aired in it's entirety. These days, if a show doesn't get good ratings quickly, it's pulled.
The consistency and blunt presentation of subject matter were enjoyable.
