The Novel of the Show !

I have a copy of the novelization which I am thinking of finally reading. Please let me know if it adapts the miniseries well.

Anybody want a peanut ?

If it's the one I saw listed on Ebay once, I don't see how it could do the miniseries justice. I think it would take at the very least, 500 pages to do it justice and I think the one I saw on Ebay was under 300

It follows the script a little too closely and the writing is without emotion. The ending seems to have been written before the script was finalized and doesn't quite capture it.

It's good for die-hards, but useless as a standalone read. :-/

I actually got a copy of the hardcover for about two bucks at a used books store but never got around to reading it. I think it's less than 300 pages in length! A 10-part miniseries that is essentially 15 hours in length (sans commercials) would require at least 1000 pages to do it justice. The miniseries is one of my all-time favorites. I remember taping each part and watching it in continuous succession with my family, and we were all just completely spellbound from start to finish. The hostage-taking episode (part 8, I think) and the last 15 or so minutes were the only parts that left us feeling less than satisfied, but this was one of the most epic sci-fi events I've seen, big screen or small.
