I don't know if this has been brought up before, but...Why is Allie listed as Allie Keys? Biologically, yes. She was a Keys. But Charlie & Lisa weren't married & there was no time for a quickie marriage or adoption between the time Charlie & Lisa figured out Charlie was Allie's dad, and the end of the story

I've been making this argument since it originally aired. On top of all that, she is not referred to as "Keys" at any point in the miniseries. Yet everyone in the real world pretends she's a Keys. When I press the argument, people just shrug and turn away. It makes no sense that Allie would have the last name Keys, unless someone is suggesting that Lisa had some unexplained aversion to giving Allie her own family name, and pulled the name out of the air (and by amazing coincidence matched the name of the biological father, whom she had never actually met) when the birth certificate was filed.

I've been thinking about this ever since I posted the question and the only explanation I can up with is that since this story deals with inter-breeding between aliens & humans, it's the biology that really counts

Why? Lisa's stepfather was Danny Holding and I think in the episode "Charlie and Lisa" we see Eric and Dr. Wakeman put Lisa's data on a computer screen, where she is listed as a "Lisa Holding".
But yeah, the point that she can't possibly be named "Keys" is absolutely correct, and referring to her as such also comes across as pretty... patriarchal. Her parents weren't married and she was raised by a single mother who wasn't even aware of the father's identity for many years.
I saw that too where Lisa was listed on the abductee board as "Lisa Holding" but I don't remember anyone specifically saying Denny adopted her
