Conversation Between Owen and the German Scientist

I'm on the second episode. Love this series already. Spielberg is a master. One thing I found funny was the dialogue between Owen and the German scientist he brought over to try to power the ships.

The German scientist suggested that psychics could maybe power the ship. The psychics of course, didn't do it. Later in the office, a pissed Owen tells the scientist: "That kind of attitude is why your country lost the war". The scientist tells Owen: "We lost the war because the Russians betrayed our trust. It was never a question of attitude".

Say what? As far as I remember it was the Germans who broke the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Treaty and invaded the USSR in 1941. Not the other way around. The Germans betrayed the Soviets ("Russians") trust.

Is this a goof? Or does the scientist believe in German propaganda? Or is he not German...maybe Polish?

I don't know why this bothers me haha...I think I need to get laid or something...

Spielberg was executive producer. He didn't write the series.
