On the IMDB TSLOU episode webpage it has the last two episodes with 'archive footage' next to the name of the characters - did they do big reminiscing sequences or something?

Yes these episodes are 2 parts special which are narrated by Deborah Mailman that explores The Best of The Secret Life Of Us.
