guns

If you were about to try driving from London to Manchester and aware of a high risk of murderous attack by the infected, would you just take the odd baseball bat and machete? Wouldn't you rather take a few guns and plenty of ammunition too? I'm thinking it should be possible to pick such items up from unattended gun stores, police stations or army barracks. Or is it that we should supppose they've all been looted already?

First off, this is the UK, so there are very VERY few places to actually buy a gun, so unless you have personal knowledge of where these shops are in London then you will simply waste lots of time looking around.

As for barracks and police stations, well these are the kind of places where people would automatically run to when the outbreak first started, so chances are that there could be alot of infected around making any raid very dangerous.

Not to mention that not many people in the UK actually know how to use a firearm so they may well be thinking that its not worth the extra risk trying to get a weapon that they dont know how to use properly anyway.

Speed was the key for them, they didnt want to fight, they wanted to get somewhere where other people would do the fighting for them.

I appreciate what you say. If it was me, I'd still try to get a gun before going very far. But the characters in the film make their own choices. Another choice of theirs (or one of them at least) is to drive down that long dark tunnel. I would have tried a different route, but in any case as soon as I saw a lot of vehicles likely blocking the way in the tunnel I'd have gone back pretty quick. But hey, it's a movie, and ya gotta have some thrills along the way.

Maybe, but I think you would waste a lot of time looking for a gun just to come up empty. As well as putting yourself into a lot more danger while doing it.

Ultimately the ability to get away is far more useful for them than having a gun.

You also have to remember, other people would probably have that same idea as you when the initial outbreak came, so all of the guns would mostly be already gone

where even police don't have any guns....

The places where firearms are stored are generally pretty secure, they wouldn't have been able to get to them without making a fair bit of noise. Even those in private ownership by law have to be kept in a secure cupboard.

Cake or death? Cake please.

They should have gone to The Winchester. There's a gun over the bar.

Thinking about it, Jim's parents' place is in Deptford, there's probably a shotgun or pistol in most of the local pubs.

Guns R VERY VERY hard to get, U would have to go to Scotland Yard to get the gun registry, then go to the armed homes with pissed off gun owners to get their guns and only swat and army carry guns on duty only! Good luck trying to get a gun in England. During WW2 we had to send them rifles to British homes because they had NONE to fight off the naziis.

Uh baby U 4got to pull out. 9 months later, can U pull this ucking baby outta me, do that @ least!

What part of LEGALLY do YOU not understand? I said LEGALLY it's hard to get guns here. You can walk into any pub in south London and come out with a gun in your pocket. I ran a pub in Woolwich for years, and there were a number of people you could buy a gun from, and I had a pump shotty behind the bar. Most of the the other pubs were the same. Saying you can't get guns here is like saying you can't get drugs here.
