Seriously, the picture quality, even on Bluray, looks horrible. I thought I had a bad copy, but it turns out the film was actually shot using a cellphone camera, so it looks horrible everywhere. How the heck is anyone rating this so highly?

reply

Yes, even I was shocked at the rating. It did look bad. I didn't like the film either, despite liking Cillian Murphy so much. Ben Stiller said jokingly on the Oscar stage when he was presenting an award that Slumdog Millionaire was shot on a cellphone. Same cinematographer in both movies.

reply

Oddly enough people rate the movie and not the camera used to film it.

Lol

reply

Because the quality of the picture, although important, doesn't determine how good the film is. It all comes together quite well. It adds gritty quality to it that enhances the scenario the film presents.

Uh no it wasn't, though there was a fair degree of hand held camera work which isn't unusual these days. BTW, Cinematographer, Anthony Dod Mantle won a European Film Award for his work on this film.🐭

The footage was supposed to be grainy to get it an "urban feel" Get yo facts straight

This movie was shot for 5 million pounds. You have to put cost into context when watching movies. I thought it was spectacular for 5 million pounds.

Sorry it wasn't 40000000000P HD enough for your 4K set. You wouldn't have survived the 80s and Betamax .
