Undead Plague Films

I really enjoyed 28 Days Later, and I'd appreciate some suggestions for other zombie films. I've only seen a few others... mainly Night of the Living Dead (1968), and Dawn of the Dead (1978), both of which I also really enjoyed. To me, the best things about them were their limited cast and careful writing, which gave the protagonists room to develop and form complex relationships with each other under the tight constraints of their situations. I think 28 Days Later, though not technically a film about the undead, really captured the tension and humanity of these two older films. Are there other undead thrillers, especially modern ones, that achieve this dramatic feat?

Not so much a movie or indeed quite the same genre but True Blood the series is fantastic.

I haven't yet seen Dawn of the Dead but seen the spoof, Shaun of the Dead. Hilarious movie! Sorry I can't be of any help. I've just bought seasons 1-5 of True Blood and intend to get 6 and 7 separately because the 1-7 boxed set is very expensive. It's cheaper for me to buy them this way 

There was an interesting TV show here in the UK called Survivors which was about a group who had survived a virus that had simply wiped everyone out. No rage, no zombieness, just lots and lots of dead people. Probably the most realistic kind of apocalypse...

Similarly I think there's a film called Contagion that maybe has a similar plot? Those kinds of thing scare me more than zombies, to be honest. Much too real.

Maybe I Am Legend? Ha.
