It's so crushing to watch this scene. The setting, the bodies, the note, the music. I get depressed and filled with sorrow just thinking about it.

I actually wanted to show this movie to a friend over a decade ago,
and he couldn't watch anymore after Jim reads the note.
I guess it hits right in the guts.

I have to admit that the scene where he finds out about his family's death upset me, and when he found that note, damn that got me and my supply of tissues.. Didn't expect this movie to be so emotional but i agree that scene was damned crushing

Great Scene.

After he reads it and sobs covering his face, it got to me too.

Knowing your family is gone and you never had a chance to say goodbye. Very sad. I felt for Jim here. More so compared to Frank's death, even though that was sad also.

The consolation being, as Selena said, they died clean. Not infected.
