WTF happened half way through...??? ***SPOILERS***

I thought this was going to be such a good one. Really Disappointed.

Sad thing is it had such potential. First half was so good, until Hannah's father died in the most ridiculous way.

About that, why the hell did he have to go and stand directly under the corpse, when they already knew corpses' blood is infectious? Wouldn't a normal person keep away from it as much as possible?

And why didn't the military show up before the man got infected while they were searching the place? It was like they were waiting for someone to get infected?

And after that, the movie turned into a cheesy Bollywood film with a hero-with-superpowers-rescue-the-heroine plot. It was too ridiculous. Besides if the soldiers were that sex-crazed as to risk their lives trying to get some, they would not have wasted time doing crap like dressing the women up... I mean, come on...

And I find it hard to believe in an extreme situation like this, Jim, Selena and Hannah could build such a strong relationship that Jim would sacrifice his life for their honor. And risk his life again and again, trying to rescue them, when the main goal is survival and it's one man against nine.

Never mind that the guy who couldn't even defend himself in the beginning, suddenly became such a strong, sneaky fighter taking out 9 SOLDIERS with MILITARY TRAINING.

PS-
Actually, would men really risk the possibility of getting ripped apart by zombies, because they wanted to have sex? I dunno.. Maybe men ARE such stupid creatures, but still it seems far fetched to me... If not for the "women issue" these people could have survived within the sanctuary just fine until help arrived.

Yeah, I thought it was good up until the soldiers became sex-crazed, incompetent maniacs (after only a matter of weeks; apparently most of these guys lacked both discipline and morals) and the bike courier turned into Rambo, wielding weapons and displaying combat skills better than any of the trained soldiers. Totally predictable "hero saving the women from the bad guys" story at that point. Might as well have been a Disney movie.

I kind of thought that more realistic, especially with the way Chris Eccleston's character explained it - when the three of them arrived I kept thinking 'well these men are oddly civil to what they could fairly assume are the last living women they'll ever meet'. It did feel a bit creepy with Hannah, mind, given how young she's supposed to be, particularly when they put her in what looked like a child's dress.

Agree that Jim's takedown at the end was ridiculous. Though in fairness, he outsmarted them more than anything else and led them into various traps, using the infected to actually do most of the physical work. It would have been more ridiculous had he defeated a lot of them in hand-to-hand combat.

I wonder how navy guys spending months on the sea control their urges... According to this movie, they would be raping women left and right

reply

I would agree it's the weakest part of a very strong film, since if that was their plan they might as well have just shot Jim straight away. But the reason people on ships don't go out raping as soon as they're on dry land is because law and society prevents it. If they knew there would be no punishment or retribution for their actions they would be more likely to commit them

reply

Yeah right. How sad for you to live in such a dire world. All men are rapists held back only by the law.

Grow up.

And 28 Days??? Many men and women go 28 Days no problem without sex today here and now.

yes its bad. I had the same thing thinking when i saw this movie yesterday for the first time.

I don't understand why this movie has such an high rating.

I wish Boyle made this now because it's a very immature film that he's too close to genre cliches.

Jim has to be beaten very the head. It should have been "like zombies? Got it."

And the whole movie they kept forgetting that the blood is dangerous. Remember when they made out with blood on their faces??

And the whole military stuff at the end was just cringe.

I used to think this movie was great. I suppose it's just very dated now.
