I'm a huge horror buff but I mostly dwell in earlier horror. I tend to find most modern (Post 2000) horror films bland with little in the way of what makes a good horror (good score, atmosphere, interesting characters, good villain). 28 Days Later has always stood out to me more than pretty much any modern horror film. What do you guys think? What are your favorite modern horror films and how does 28 Days Later rank for you?

28 Days Later... I would have to (and have) put at the top of the list. Emotional at its core, horrifying on so many levels, absolutely amazing camera work and music use, this is a movie that both horrifies me and makes me appreciate life on a level so few films do. It is an amazing and admirable piece of work that I don't think any other film (besides The Descent) has come close to matching.
