British movies make me yawn!

They make such boring movies. They should have notices on all British movies like a parental rating. This movie gets 3 out of 5 ZZZzzzzs!

What do you expect from a country that answers to a queen

reply

I would say good point but when you REALLY get down to it the US answers to the same queen...do you really think there's anything Federal about the Federal Reserve?

reply

what exams do you have to pass to sit in the electoral college?
You know that the Queen (90 years old tomorrow)is just a symbol?

But seriously all British films are boring and all American films are ????

reply

Lately all American films are crapola! With few exceptions they are all sequels, prequels and remakes...

reply

Movies everywhere suck these days. Same with a lot of art and media. We're at a new low. This is a transformative moment.

reply

No one answers to the Queen, Einstein, the monarchy is powerless. It's a ceremonial cash cow, nothing else.

I still don't understand it, why they hate us so much - Valerie, V for Vendetta

reply

Was gonna say the same thing. You can tell someone is American on these boards when what they say is so dumb it hurts.

We don't, and this from an American, who's president is soon to be a tax and Vietnam war draft dodger 

You're clearly watching the wrong British movies, then. I happen to think them rather brilliant.

That said, I can kind of agree with you on 28 Days Later - I only watched it recently and it felt a little dated in 2016. That said, they clearly did the best with a small budget - had it been made today with the same script and actors I think it could have been pretty remarkable (apart from Hannah. Get rid of Hannah).

Name a "right" British movie...

reply

There are so many to name it seems pointless to even try - I suggest you do some Googling. You'll find countless recommendation lists. On a quick note, I happen to be a huge fan of Edgar Wright - if you can watch Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz and tell me they're boring, I'd be surprised. And you did ask for a (w)right one...

reply

Definitely dated but not because of its content, it's simply because they shot it on 2002 digital which looks like something you could make now with a flip phone with a 2 megapixel camera.

reply

Are you one to watch ones like the transformers and marvel ones then? "action" movies so to speak? Personally I've grown to prefer movies like this,or any Guy Richie film over anything from "Hollywood" in the past 10 years.

reply

No, they make artistic movies rather than ones that appeal to the brain dead shooting, car chases, blowing schit up, damsels in distress Hollywood formula lowest common denominator bollocks.

Can always tell the types who like that Hollywood formula schit because they invariably won't watch foreign language movies, arthouse/indie movies, or anything else requiring above average levels of intelligence to follow.

Name another 'British' movie that you have seen!!!!

You dont even know where Britain is or what countries are within it so it has nothing to do with 'British', you are probably just another idotic Yank that needs eveything remade into an American version.

reply

American films lately are crap all they seem to do is marvel super heros thats a huge zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for me infact most of what comes out of America is crap

reply

That is a very broad and sweeping statement, and not entirely true I would say.

That's the analogy as saying "CLASSICAL MUSIC MAKES ME FALL ASLEEP"..... In other words, its NOT the music...... Its YOU!!!! People who ABSOLUTELY LOVE that 'C'RAP HIP-HOP and/or GANGSTA RAP are brain dead zombies! Same as American movies..... GARBAGE SJW BULLSH*T..... at least the UK has more of the art of acting and the storyline and character buildup~ which is all that is intensely involved in theatre and/or movies! Another great example is the TRUE STORY OF FRANKENSTEIN..... w/NO USA ACTORS and all BBC actors and actresses..... That movie was NOT scary and/or gory but it was WELL WRITTEN, WELL ACTED and WELL DEVELOPED! I loved that movie but most Americans would find it to be very boring because it lacks juvenile acting w/gory horror....... In America, a young pretty starlet seeks Hollywood for FAME + FORTUNE and becoming a great actress, a LEAST priority! In the UK, the arts and acting is "baked in the cake" of their culture, in which its mandatory as part of young school children learning the art of acting at a very young age and as a prerequisite~ the goal of becoming a great actor or actress is just as important as a skill and/or trade, as it is to becoming famous w
with or without fortune! For example, the James Bond movie "a view to a kill" had the VERY GORGEOUS but HORRIBLE ACTRESS, Tonya Roberts, acting as one of the bond ladies but as you can see, she was a HORRIFIC ACTRESS that was pretty enough to star in a James Bond movie! Hollywood is more impressed w/looks and artificial character w/actresses! Just because that GARBAGE, JUNK "FOOD" MUSIC, known as GANGSTA RAP, is more popular on the radio, does NOT and NEVER mean it is better than beautiful, timeless classical music!
