Tyrell's death.

Someone on another post already mentioned this and it aroused my own suspicions.

Is it possible that Leticia actually killed Tyrell herself (by accident) then invented the "hit and run" story?

We had already witnessed earlier in the film that Leticia had some serious emotional problems and had little control over her violent impulses with her son (hitting him over the candy bars).

And note that we NEVER SEE the child actually get hit by a car. The car breaks down, they get out, and she kind of loses it with him again. We cut back later and Tyrell is already lying unconcious (or dead) and bloodied with Leticia screaming over him before Hank arrives.

And later, when Hank takes her to her place she gets kind of upset at the thought of them conducting an autopsy on him (Tyrell).

Maybe because the truth might come out?

Is it that maybe Leticia just get frustrated with him being slow (and overweight which she already had a problem with) and snapped, hitting him too hard this time, then freaking out in remorse and inventing the story of a hit-and-run as a last-minute act of self-preservation?

Anyone else ever have this thought?

"The car breaks down, they get out, and she kind of loses it with him again."

This scene was much earlier, when Hank drove past and hit his horn at Tyrell when he strayed into traffic. It was during the day time.

"We cut back later and Tyrell is already lying unconcious (or dead) and bloodied with Leticia screaming over him before Hank arrives."

This was much later, during the rain and at night, after Leticia got off work from the diner.
These are two different scenes.

Okay, my mistake. Been awhile since I saw the film. But it still hints at her aggrivated state of mind and that she might have been building up to it.

They did an autopsy, everything checks out. But since there were no witnesses the cops were right to be suspicious.

No argument here. The character was a very troubled woman. So was Hank. Both were angry and violent, but both were looking for a way out of their plight.

Yes,the thought has crossed my mind. Ummm..shouldn't there be a SPOILER alert in the title of this posting?

I don't think that Leticia killed Tyrell. Remember Tyrell would walk into the street from time to time after they lost the car. It's possible that he walked into the street, and the car did not see him since the rain was pouring in sheets.
