Hallie only won an Oscar because she was naked and did a sex scene!

Just sayin'.

at least she made history and by the way this movie was her only shot to win the oscar and if you looked to her filmography you will know why and she quit filming nudity and sex scenes after this movie ...

and Kate Winslet almost made the same thing to win her first oscar too.

reply

So every actor who's naked / did a sex scene has won an Oscar?

This brief scene is so miniscule regarding this film.

reply

Very mediocre film and performance from Berry. Should have just awarded the Oscar to her tits, they won the Oscar.

reply

I've been saying this for YEARS!!! If you extract that sex scene, what's so compelling about her acting? She got that Oscar because she "went there!" I guess in that scene alone was her Oscar worthy performance.

reply

No arguing that ,i think that's why angela bassett refused to do it .She even advised halle not to do it .Let's face it halle doesn't have the talent too pull it off any other way except do this .Personally i didn't see anything special about this film as a whole .I'm a fan of billy bobs since sling blade this wasn't exactly a shining moment for him .

Agreed. The movie was mediocre and Berry's performance was cringe-worthy especially the sex scene. That whole scene just made me cringe, not because of the nudity, but her "acting." It was awful

It made her feel good!

it made her feel AMAZING!

i went to see INCEPTION 5 times... !!!

reply

Yeah it really was a very average film.. I guess it's ok as a story about human relationships but it was pretty depressing (I don't mind films with dark stories but you want an element that's at least partly uplifting/hopeful) whereas it was pretty much just Halle Berry and Billy-Bob Thornton moping around the whole time (other than when they had some rather cringey overly graphic sex)... Definitely not oscar worthy! I found them to be 2 horrible characters who I couldn't find myself rooting for... They were both awful to their sons and I never got the impression either of them became better people by the end of the film.
