Yep, this movie is better than "Communion" and almost on par with "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".

Honestly, I love this movie but I think it would be hard to understand what's going on if you didn't read the book. In comparison to other movies made from books, I think the storyline is a little sloppy in character development and honestly, i think if I didn't read the book, I wouldn't know what was going on. There are so many references that just aren't explained in the movie and I think that just leads people to confusion which makes them hate it.
This is one of my favorite books and alien movies.

Cannot agree with you more !!! The only fault I give it is I think they could have made it longer then it was....so much more could have been shown! But I love the characters and the story...and really love Duddits!!!

I've never read the book, but still found it impressive, especially the creature effects. They look so realistic!

Never mind the bad reviewers or critics. They had probably enjoyed eating eels until they saw this movie... Haha!

I like this movie, I can't say it's one of my favourite movies of all time but I appreciate it's silly charm overall. However, I'm disappointed that there was so much talent and resources being used on a such a dumb shit story.
