Parallel Universes make viewers care less

The problem with the overlapping parallel universes is that if there are multiple versions of one character, then viewers don't feel so invested in the characters because they are no longer unique. It also makes them think, "Oh, that version of the character didn't make it out but maybe another version gets out," thus decreasing the suspense. But I guess this was supposed to be perceived as more of a comedy.

I think you are right, but wrong. I think people tend to stick with the 'originals', rather than rooting for the parallel versions of the characters. Come to think of it: that is why the Simon that did that thing to Sasha, had to be the same one as the one that Kate sent off with the eyeache.

The alternate versions of the characters couldn't get a big part in the storyline, because viewers might feel fooled.
