Not because of the accents themselves, but the fact these were supposed to be Americans. If you're going to insist on making the cast American at least make sure they can do a convincing accent. British people do a better American accent than the cast here. Anyway, if you must have a cast that can't do an American accent, just make the characters from Canada. Problem solved.

Yeah I mean this is a big problem on cable as well and I don't get why everyone (and I'm including American actors in this, so everyone calm down) can't just be from where they're from. Just set the thing in Canada. Canada can have big scary corporations. And cubes.

A lot of actors are from Canada from Lorne Greene to Kari as a matter of fact! I was born there, but only there as a baby while dad in the USAF! I never noticed anything about the accents or wasn't paying attention enough!

Canadians exist in the uncanny valley.
Europeans are so different from Americans that we can recognize them instantly. But Canadians are so close.. yet there's something a little bit off that it feels weird*. I definitely got the Canadian vibe from these actors.
I, too, would have preferred they just make the characters Canadian. It wasn't necessary to the plot that they were American.
*Note: I don't mean off in a bad way. Stereotypically, Canadians are nicer, more polite, more bland and probably dress a bit more square than Americans. So it's good and bad.
I'm not American, but I find it very easy to pick out Canadian accents. You put it best that it feels like there's something "off" about it.
